Winter and Summer programs supporting teenage burn survivors.
Founder/Developer/Fundraiser
Established revolutionary program for teens utilizing sports and the arts as vehicles to break the boundaries of perceived limitations as a result of disability. Developed alliances with key health and sports partners to optimize program, hired staff by developing alliance with a 501c3 organization, and led fundraising outreach. Provided strong leadership and motivation to organization/staff.
* Ensured positive program impact, competent staff, and long-term sustainability:
o Built strong relationships with experts from Shriners Hospital, Red Cross and Adaptive Sports Center, who serve as implementation directors.
o Secured $40,000 in funding annually, clothing and equipment donations, and 30+ volunteers for program operations through direct outreach to private and corporate donors, and grant foundations.
o At inception, optimized budget to fund schedule of activities that includes ice climbing, snowboarding and skiing, river trips, art classes, rock climbing, and dog sledding.
o Provided critical personal development support, including workshops for self-confidence and self-expression, acceptance of emotional and physical scarring, leadership, and adaptability.

Developed and launched and sold innovative jewelry line based on securing U.S. patent. Drove sales and marketing activities, product design, production as well as all client and public relations. •Researched theories and practices of burn management. Included observations as well as interviews of expert physicians including surgeons at Shriners Hospital.
•Researched current healing modalities, alternative care for hypertrophic scars and keloids, contractures, phantom pain and pain management necessitated by withdrawal of prescribed narcotics.
•Observed and participated in debridement of burn wounds, burn wound care with antimicrobial and calcium alginate dressings, and the use of Silvadene (silver sulfadiazine) and silver nitrate solution. Observed two full thickness skin grafts of 23% of body, treatments of burn-related major infection and developed in depth knowledge of measuring patients for silicon lined compression garments.
